Privacy policy
The short version
PubCrawler collects the minimum it needs to work: your account details when you sign in, the crawls you build, your friends list, and the photos you take on a crawl. Photos are only ever visible to you and the people who were on that crawl with you. We don't show ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't use third-party tracking or analytics.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name and email address, and you choose a username. You can use parts of the app without an account.
- Your crawls. The pub crawls you build and choose to save or share, including the pubs on the route.
- Friends. Friend requests and your friends list, so you can share crawls and follow each other's live crawls.
- Live crawls. When you run a crawl live, your progress through the stops is shared with the friends you've allowed to follow along.
- Photos. Photos you take during a crawl are saved on your phone and, when you're signed in, backed up to your account. If friends joined your live crawl, everyone who was on that crawl sees the crawl's shared album. Nobody else can — photos are never public, and friends who weren't on the crawl can't see them.
- Feedback. If you send feedback from the app, we receive your message, your username and the app version.
What stays on your phone
If you use the app without signing in, everything — crawls, passport and photos — stays only on your device. Your saved Home and Office locations always stay on your phone and are never uploaded.
Location
The app uses your location on your phone to show you on the map, plan routes and estimate journey times. To do that it sends map and journey queries to Apple Maps, Google and Transport for London. We do not keep a history of your location on our servers.
Where your data lives
Account data, crawls, friends, photos and feedback are stored with Supabase, our database provider, and are protected so that only you (and the friends you share with) can see your data.
Services the app talks to
- Apple and Google — sign-in, and maps and place details.
- Transport for London — live tube and journey times.
- Supabase — data storage, as above.
Each handles data under its own privacy policy. We share nothing with anyone else, and we never sell your data.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, username, friends, shared data and uploaded photos from our servers. Crawls and photos saved on your phone stay on your phone. Feedback messages you've sent may be kept, but are no longer linked to you.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email support@pubcrawlerapp.com and we'll sort it out.
Age
PubCrawler is about pubs, so it's intended for people of legal drinking age (18+ in the UK).
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email support@pubcrawlerapp.com.
